It’s our FIRST ANNUAL Thanksgiving Pie Bake Off!

Nothing says Thanksgiving quite like pie 🥧🩷 Join us for an evening of flaky crusts, sweet fillings, and some friendly competition at our first-ever Thanksgiving Pie Bake Off!

Our esteemed panel of judges will determine the grand prize winner as well as 2nd & 3rd place but we need your help too! Taste all of the pies and determine which is your favorite. Donate a canned good to PORCH-Durham to taste & vote!

Ponysaurus Wonderland will also be LIT and SPARKLING for a festive event!


Entry Rules

  • All styles/types of pies are welcome, but will be judged in the same category 

  • Pies will be prepared off-site and then served at Ponysaurus Brewing Co. and served to our panel of judges 

  • Contestants should prepare at least 2 pies for tasting and judging 

  • Additional pies should be prepared and provided to Ponysaurus guests on the day of the contest,

  • There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place judges’ decision, as well as a People's Choice Award and two superlatives for: Cutest Design and Most Creative Name!

  • All contestants must provide a full list of ingredients 

  • All contestants must provide their own pie dishes/serving trays for their entry. Ponysaurus Brewing Co. will provide serving utensils, sampling cups, tables to all entrants. 

  • Pies should be homemade and not store bought.

  • As goes without saying, poisoning the judges will result in disqualification. 

     

Play–By–Play 

4 PM: Contestant arrival and set-up
5:15 PM: Judges tasting begins
6 PM: Public tasting begins / judge’s deliberation
7 PM: People’s Choice Award votes are collected from each contestant station
7:30 PM: Winners are announced!
8 PM: Participants must be present to break down / clean up at 8:00PM.

Winner, Winner!

Our esteemed panel of judges will crown three winners: 

🥇 1st Place – $50 gift card 
🥈 2nd Place – $20 gift card + Ponysaurus hat 
🥉 3rd Place – $10 gift card + sticker pack 

Plus, the crowd has a say! The People’s Choice Award winner will take home a 6-pack or 4-pack of beer. 

And because pies deserve a little flair, we’re also awarding superlatives for Cutest Design and Most Creative Name! 

Donate & Judge

To vote for the People’s Choice Award we are asking you to donate a non-perishable food item to PORCH-Durham.
We suggest the following non-perishable food items:

  • Macaroni & Cheese

  • Canned vegetables and fruit (no soft-tops please)

  • Protein-rich foods (canned tuna, canned chicken, pasta with meat)

  • Snacks (raisins, granola bars, crackers, pretzels)

  • Pasta (Ramen noodles, chef boyardee)

After the Bake Off, enjoy hot cider and gluhwein by the fire ☺️🔥☃️
