Basketball and brackets have taken over the month of March. But what about the Mesozoic Madness that occurred when an asteroid 6-9 miles in diameter slammed into earth, causing a catastrophic global impact winter and mega-tsunamis triggering a geochemical and climatic disruption that devastated the biosphere. It is estimated that 75% of all species on earth went extinct.
Mesozoic Madness: fight for survival is hosted by the NC Museum of Natural Sciences Paleontology Team. It will be played out as a bracket of species alive prior to the meteor impact that slowly, through systematic elimination (extinction) are weeded out to a single survivor that lived to pass along its genes to modern animals alive today. Can you predict which one it is?
